(A message for those who are devoted members of Alcoholics Anonymous)
There are many paths to the top of the mountain
As expected, I receive a lot of email from members of AA.
Before you send an email explaining that AA is the only way to stop drinking, please consider this. I am not claiming that AA is good or bad, only that people have a choice about how they choose to stop drinking. Some people stop by simply deciding to, some love support groups, others use empowering methods, and some will not stop no matter what they do.
I am not making any claims or stating any success rates for hypnosis and drinking. I am stating that people have a choice in how they choose to put their lives back together. Hypnosis is simply ONE of the ways to take control of your life and feel that you have the power to change what you want to change. It works for a lot of people, and for some it doesn't work. I am not saying that AA is wrong. I am simply offering one possible solution for those that are seeking help.
If you heard me on the radio, one of the testimonials that I read from a woman, said that she drank more after meetings because she felt so bad and depressed. Her comments are not unusual. The people who go to meetings and don’t return, need an alternative.
My methods are used by Hypnotherapists all over the world. I didn't invent the ability that the mind has to change based on changing your core values. I do know how to facilitate this change and I have created a very unique and powerful method to do this.
Some of you AA members have sent me very disturbing emails. Maybe you have learned that it is acceptable to be judgmental, cruel, closed minded and downright mean in your communication. Where did you learn that? Is this is the only way to communicate?
I love to answer questions, but I don't want to respond to you when you say I am a horrible person simply because I offer help to people who want to quit drinking- and who would like to do it without a support group. You make your choices and you chose to go to AA. That doesn't mean that everyone else is wrong- even if they teach you that in AA. And yes, your big book does teach you that this is the only way.
I love what I do and I am very grateful to be able to help people who have not been able to find help in any other way. I have a wonderful staff of 15 people who are committed to helping others. We do a lot of good for the world in a big way.
If a person wants to stop drinking, they deserve to do in their own way, by making their own choices. Please respect that. I respect your choice to belong to AA and your choice to believe that you have a disease. For those that feel they have a choice about how they heal, this is one of the paths to the top of the mountain.
Respectfully,
Wendi Friesen CCHT
